CHILD + ADOLESCENT MENTAL HEALTH THERAPY

David Ornegri is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, School Social Worker, and Licensed Educator. He has been a Salt Laker for over 10 years now and has spent that time providing public services throughout Salt Lake County. One of his main goals for clients is to create a brave space that focuses on empowerment through strengths-based approaches to treatment. He sees his role as being a companion on clients’ journeys to self-discovery, acceptance, and empowerment.

David utilizes a handful of therapeutic modalities. He has received training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance + Commitment Therapy, Grief + Loss, Motivational Interviewing, and Solutions Focused Therapy.

David received a master’s degree from the University of Utah’s College of Social Work with a focus on clinical mental health therapy in 2016. After earning his degree, he was employed by Canyons School District from 2016 – 2022 to provide mental health services for the most impacted schools in Midvale and Sandy, Utah. During that time, he was recognized and awarded by The University of Utah for his commitment to students, integrity to the profession, and strong work ethic.

David is a fierce advocate of disenfranchised and vulnerable populations and collaborated with several community partners while at Canyons School District. He was also tasked with creating social emotional treatment goals for students in Special Education and wrote 504 Accommodation Plans for students with physical and mental health disabilities. He showed an ethical approach to decision making and persistent in advocating for his clients. He has extensive training in treating clients with trauma, depression, anxiety, attachment disorders, faith transitions, and LGBTQIA matters.

David is originally from Miami, Florida. He is fluent in Spanish, Portuguese, and of course, English! He is Latinx and a first generation American via Peru. He is also an out and proud member of the LGBTQIA community. Davey is eager to work with all clients, meeting them where they’re at in their life-journey, and welcomes a chance to support members of his Latinx and queer communities! David has also experienced the hardships of his own faith transition and is mindful that everyone’s faith journey is unique and should be treated with grace and no judgment.
